Matician

This photo is available on Matician's Website and was taken before I began working there. Consequently it does not actually show any of my work which is confidential.
I can provide more specific details about my work at Matician during a conversation as I cannot publish more detailed information online.
In the first half of 2020 I was employed by Matician as a Mechanical Design Engineer co-op. I worked in Palo Alto, California for the first three months and then transitioned to fully remote due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Working within the small startup I was a critical member of the mechanical design team as we developed an autonomous household robot.
In conjunction with Matician's culture of scientific problem solving, I developed testing models to evaluate robot performance which combined theory with quantifiable test results. Additionally, I developed and performed a variety of qualitative tests to evaluate and inform my design decisions as I created a novel fluidics system to be featured on the robot. Due to the use of 3D printing as the primary mode of prototyping at Matician, I learned useful DFM techniques to apply to my models to decrease print turn around times. After going fully remote, I purchased my own 3D printer to continue my work. Through this experience I have gained an excellent understanding of FDM 3D printing and will continue to build off of this experience in my personal work.

In addition to the development of fluidic systems for the robot, I also sought out and worked with suppliers and manufacturers to secure samples and build relationships to advance the manufacturing of Matician's products.
